Product Description |
Acquired Taste is the thirteenth studio album in the career of Texas roots music legend and Grammy® winning artist Delbert McClinton. The album is produced by Grammy® winning producer Don Was (Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt). It is the first new studio recording by McClinton in over four years.
McClinton doesn t change the musical formula on Acquired Taste, (a juke joint blend of country, blues, soul and rock n roll). This time, the subtle change from his last album, 2005 s Cost Of Living, are the reflective lyrics providing one of the wisest and most introspective albums of his 50+ year musical career. |

Not a homerun! |
|
Not up to Delbert's usual standards. The uneven variety of tunes detracts from the album being a comfortable listen. |

Acquired Taste |
I love Delbert and have attended many of his concerts over the years but this recording is very mixed regarding the quality of his voice. Some cuts are vintage Delbert but a couple are embarrassing. His band is, as always, tight and professional; many arrangements are just fine, too. But Delbert is pushing age 70 and his voice betrays that fact in the upper registers of his range.
I would not have purchased it if I could have heard it in advance, I'm sorry to say. |

Grammy Star Delbert McClinton |
Delbert has done it again. Every song is great and from the heart.
He can sure write music and sings better every year. I have 13 of his
CD's and I love them all..Carol D |
