Amazing album!!! \m/ |
|
This is true power metal the way Maiden and Priest do best. This album is flawless, amazing lyrics, riffs, guitar shreds, vocals and flow. This album has everything Maiden fans love and that's real metal. For the record, this owns Ozzy Osbournes latest pop metal, radio friendly piece of garbage. Buy Final Frontier (which as the band stated is not the last album just an a;bum title) and Order Of The Black by BLS, leave ozzy and sharron to the pop crown. |

Progressive metal |
Iron Maiden has re-invented themselves by growing more progressive the past ten years, and this has won over many new fans. The Final Frontier will not disappoint.
The highlights:
Satellite 15 (the intro) is one of the most progressive things I have ever heard Iron Maiden do - and it is amazing, as it is structured with eerie diminished and jazz chordings. But then, look out, because once The Final Frontier chords kick in the song turns into a straight ahead Iron Maiden classic.
El Dorado - I have found that this song is best listened to back to back with Satellite 15/The Final Frontier. El Dorado seems out of place when listening to it by itself.
Mother of Mercy - contains a very memorable guitar melody.
The Alchemist - a fast tempo song that, with it's harmony guitars, has a Killers album feels to it. One of my favorites.
Isle of Avalon - this song fits right in with the songs of the past ten years. Clean sounding guitars that evolve into a distortion classic.
The Talisman - another of my favorites, this is a story of being at sea - starts slowly and evolves into a very fast tempo song.
The mission edition case is made of fragile tin that is easily bent. I'd avoid it and get the standard cd.
Overall, The Final Frontier has slighty different feels to it from song to song, but it should satisfy most anyone that enjoys the band.

IRON MAIDEN as a SLEEP-AID?!!! New music is so "relaxing" |
|
Now that I have your attention, let me explain what I mean. The new Iron Maiden album is really a fine piece of work. The music and vocals are top-notch, and the band seems to have loads of energy left in them. However, it is the PACE of the new album that will play games with your head. Iron Maiden seems to drift on a long-voyage throughout most of the new material. It is like "Piece Of Mind" album blends in with Pink Floyds "Wish You Were Here". Both of which appeared on the scene many years ago. I have actually fallen asleep four different times while listening to "The Final Frontier". The music has a strange "calming" effect on me. I am not used to Iron Maiden songs stretching out so long that they actually become non-threatening to the point of serenity! Still, I really like the music, and I find it to be quite compelling. I just hope that I will get to the point at which I can listen to it in its entirety without waking up four hours later with fleeting visions of an elusive dream! How will Iron Maiden go on tour with music that would thrill fans of the Grateful Dead and Fleetwood Mac? Time will Tell... |

this album another great one, one thing i like about iron maiden is that every album differs from the other, but still keeps it's original roots. |
