Fans of the Moody Blues hungry for the band's intoxicatingly rich arrangements and soaring melodies need look no further than this terrific compilation. What it lacks in depth this collection makes up for in breadth, spanning the band's 30-year history of hits from "Tuesday Afternoon (Forever Afternoon)" to "Your Wildest Dreams." Featuring some of Justin Hayward and John Lodge's best songwriting and packed with performances truly worthy of the superlative adjective greatest, this collection of hits delivers the goods. --L.A. Good Moody Album |
|
It was a good album, bought back many old memories. Some songs seem like came they in either too late or ended too early. |

The Very Best Of The Moody Blues 1964 - 1988. |
From 1964 Go Now opens this album, it's belted out, but the remainder of the songs, starting with Tuesday Afternoon and Nights In White Satin from the LP Days Of Future Passed, are very different.
Days Of Future Passed was released in 1967 and may well have been the first ever marriage of classical and rock/pop music.
By all accounts Decca records were dubious about it's chances of selling as no one could dance to it!
It turned out to be a massive success and launched The Moody Blues career, which has been one of the most notable in this genre.
The 17 tracks last 75 minutes, so there's value for money and included are some less known songs like The Voice, Gemini Dream, Blue World and Your Wildest Dreams.
My own favourite chocies are Ride My See Saw, Voices In The Sky, Blue Guitar (Justin Haywood and John Lodge), I Know You're Out There Somewhere and to top the lot the superb Forever Autumn ( Justin Heywood).
Back in 1978 I got to meet the band after a concert at The Empire Pool, Wembley, London and found them very modest about their achievements.
Credit to them for their music and grounded persona.

Moody Blues veryBEST |

Having seen on PBS recently a live appearance of that dazzlingly multi-talented group of British song-writer/singers out doing their thing once again I was amazed to discover they were playing many if not all of their old songs and many new ones as well in a much-improved (if that was possible) rendition. It was then I swore to once again acquire "The Best of the Moody Blues" on CD - for before I had found and purchased the machine with which to record vinyl to compact disk I had in my possession only a vinyl copy of that music. When I discovered this album on Evangelismbookstore at such an affordable price, I could not wait to own it. Thank you Evangelismbookstore for your never-exhausting surprise barrel for what is good for the soul. We who are not economically-privileged salute you for making it possible to truly have and own a library of our favorite music. This album personifies to me the best of Moody Blues on CD; now if only I can acquire PBS' entire holdings of their works presented on last year's drive for financial support....any ideas, Evangelismbookstore? |
